Pay Rate: £84 - £108 per day (Dependent on experience)

GSL Education are seeking an SEMH Teaching Assistant (Primary) to join a nurturing school in Newcastle. This role is perfect for those who thrive on helping children overcome challenges, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to succeed.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Providing one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
Assisting with personalised learning and behaviour plans alongside teachers and SENCOs.
Helping students develop emotional regulation and positive coping strategies.
Creating a safe and structured learning environment that fosters engagement.
Encouraging positive relationships between students and staff.
Supporting the delivery of well-being and social skills interventions.
Tracking student progress and providing feedback to teachers and support teams.
What We’re Looking For:
✔️ A relevant qualification in education, psychology, or child development (e.g., CACHE Level 3, NVQ).
✔️ Experience supporting children with SEMH needs in schools, alternative provisions, or youth work.
✔️ Knowledge of the primary curriculum and adapting learning for children with SEMH challenges.
✔️ Understanding of behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
✔️ A strong grasp of attachment theory and trauma-informed practices.
✔️ Patience, resilience, and a nurturing approach to working with children.
✔️ Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
✔️ An up-to-date CV (covering the last 10 years with no unexplained gaps).
✔️ An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
