Position: Teacher for the Deaf

Salary: MPS/UPS (Main Pay Scale/Upper Pay Scale)

About the Role:
We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teacher for the Deaf to join a vibrant and supportive school in Camden. You will work with a diverse group of students, providing specialized teaching and support to ensure their academic success and personal development. Your role will include adapting the curriculum to meet the needs of deaf students, using a range of communication methods, and working closely with other professionals to create an inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering tailored lessons and learning strategies to deaf students
  • Implementing and assessing Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Collaborating with classroom teachers, SENCOs, and other staff
  • Providing support and guidance to students both in and out of the classroom
  • Encouraging and fostering an inclusive, positive learning atmosphere
  • Engaging with parents and guardians to monitor student progress

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience working with deaf students or a relevant qualification (e.g., BSL or Special Educational Needs)
  • A strong understanding of hearing impairments and the challenges faced by deaf students
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A passion for inclusive education and making a real impact on students' lives
