Classroom Support Worker
Location: Portland
Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 Per Hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Classroom Support Worker to join schools across Portland. In this role, you will work closely with teachers and students, providing the necessary support to foster an inclusive learning environment and help all students achieve their potential.

About the role:

As a Classroom Support Worker, you will assist with various classroom tasks, provide individual or small group support, and help maintain a positive, engaging environment for students. This is an excellent opportunity to make a lasting impact in the classroom and contribute to students' educational development.

Responsibilities of a Classroom Support Worker:

  • Assist in delivering classroom lessons by supporting students in their tasks and activities.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students to help them engage with the curriculum.
  • Help maintain a positive classroom atmosphere, encouraging student participation and engagement.
  • Support students with their academic work and personal development, ensuring they have the tools needed to succeed.
  • Help students understand and retain lesson content by adapting materials to their learning style.
  • Promote positive behaviour and assist with managing classroom activities.
  • Assist with administrative tasks as required by the teacher.
  • Ensure the classroom is a safe and inclusive environment for all students.

Requirements for a Classroom Support Worker:

  • A degree in Education, Psychology or a similar field.
  • Previous experience as a Classroom Support Worker or in a similar educational support role.
  • CACHE Level 2 or Level 3, NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (desirable but not essential).
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach with the ability to support students effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

  • Possess an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
