Support Worker

Location:  Southsea 

Salary Scale: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour

Start Date: ASAP

About the Role:

GSL Education are actively recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated full-time Support Worker to join our team at a school in Southsea. The role will involve providing high-quality care and support to students with a range of needs, including physical disabilities, learning difficulties, and mental health challenges. We are committed to providing a person-centred approach to care, and we are looking for someone who can deliver this in a warm and inclusive setting. Additionally, flexible bank options are available for day-to-day calls.

Key Responsibilities of a Support Worker:

• Provide personalised support to students with a variety of physical, emotional, and developmental needs.

• Assist students with personal care, including hygiene, dressing, and feeding, as needed.

• Support students with daily living activities, fostering independence and promoting a sense of well-being.

• Work closely with colleagues, families, and other professionals to create and implement care plans that meet the specific needs of each student.

• Encourage and facilitate social interactions, community involvement, and leisure activities to improve quality of life.

• Provide emotional support and build trusting, respectful relationships with students to ensure their safety and comfort.

• Document and report changes in students' health, behaviour, or well-being as required.

Requirements for the Support Worker role:

• Previous experience in a care/support role, especially with individuals who have complex needs, is desirable.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with patients and colleagues.

• A patient, caring, and compassionate attitude toward working with vulnerable individuals.

• Ability to work as part of a team and independently when required.

• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of individuals.

• Relevant qualifications, such as NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care, or a willingness to complete training.

• Flexible and adaptable approach to work, with a strong focus on person-centered care.

• A valid DBS check or willingness to apply for one.

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
