GSL Education are looking for a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher to join a specialist school in Sheffield. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to support and inspire learners with a range of special educational needs, ensuring they reach their full potential.
About The Role:
As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of students with a range of SEN, including autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. You will work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and SENCOs to create a positive and structured learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging, and adaptive lessons to meet individual learning needs.
- Develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) to support student progress.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies and sensory approaches to support diverse learning styles.
- Foster a nurturing and structured environment that promotes students' academic and emotional development.
- Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and parents to ensure the best outcomes for students.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively, using positive behaviour management strategies.
- Track and assess student progress, adapting teaching approaches where necessary.
The successful candidate will:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a specialism in SEN (or willingness to undertake relevant training).
- Proven experience working with children with Special Educational Needs in a school or specialist setting.
- Strong understanding of SEN teaching strategies.
- Ability to differentiate learning to support pupils with complex needs and varying abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, staff and families.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
