Primary SEN Teacher

Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £150 - £200 per day (Depending on Experience)

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Primary SEN Teacher to join schools in Chesterfield. This is an exciting role for teachers who have a passion for inclusive education and are eager to support students with varying needs, ensuring they thrive academically and personally.

As a Primary SEN Teacher, you will work across different Primary Key Stages to provide tailored teaching and support, creating a nurturing environment where every child feels valued and encouraged. Responsibilities of a SEN Teacher- Primary:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for students with special educational needs across Primary Key Stages 1 and 2.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students, ensuring that their unique needs are met.
  • Work closely with other teachers, teaching assistants, and external agencies to ensure coordinated support for students.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages students to reach their full potential.
  • Regularly assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs.
  • Provide guidance and support to teaching assistants and other support staff working with students with SEN.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievements, providing regular updates to parents and school leadership.

Skills & Qualifications for a Primary SEN Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience in teaching students with special educational needs (SEN) in a primary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEN strategies and interventions, with the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A patient, compassionate, and flexible approach to teaching students with diverse learning needs.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
