SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £95 - £110 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long Term, Full-Time/Part-Time

GSL Education are seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join schools in Chesterfield.

In this SEN TA role, you will work closely with students who require additional support, ensuring they feel included, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential. Your support will help create a positive, inclusive learning environment, allowing students to thrive both academically and socially. Responsibilities of a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):

  • Provide tailored one-to-one or small group support to students with special educational needs.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of differentiated lessons to meet individual student needs.
  • Implement and support the execution of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Support students with social and emotional development, promoting positive behaviour and interactions.
  • Assist with personal care, mobility, and medical needs, if required.
  • Work closely with the classroom teacher to ensure consistent support across all lessons.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to the teaching staff.
  • Help create and maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment.

Requirements for the SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Role:

  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance.
  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role.
  • A degree in Psychology, Education or a similar field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support students effectively.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to working with students with special educational needs.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willing to apply for one.
