SEN Learning Support

Location: Totton
Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long Term, Full-Time/Part-Time

GSL Education are currently recruiting for SEN Learning Supports to join schools in Totton.

About the role:

In this SEN LSA role, you will provide essential support to students with SEN, ensuring that they feel confident, motivated, and included in their learning journey. By working closely with teachers and other support staff, you will contribute to creating an environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Responsibilities of an SEN Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA):

  • Offer one-to-one and small group support to students with special educational needs, helping them access the curriculum.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor students' progress.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Provide personal care and mobility assistance where necessary.
  • Assist the teaching staff with preparing learning materials and classroom activities.
  • Track and record student progress, reporting back to the teaching team as needed.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and external professionals to ensure students receive the appropriate support.

SEN LSA Qualification:

  • A relevant qualification such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance.
  • A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field is desirable.
  • Previous experience working with students with special educational needs as a SEN Learning Support is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • A patient, compassionate approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students, helping them develop their independence in learning.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
