SEN Learning Support

Location: Hedge End
Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long Term, Full-Time/Part-Time

GSL Education are seeking compassionate SEN Learning Supports to work in schools in Hedge End. This role involves providing dedicated support to students, ensuring they receive the individual attention they need to succeed. By working closely with teachers and SEN teams, you will help to create a positive and engaging learning environment. As a SEN Learning Support Assistant, your responsibilities will be:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with additional needs.
  • Assist in delivering tailored learning activities under the teacher’s guidance.
  • Help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and track student progress.
  • Support students’ emotional well-being and encourage positive behaviour.
  • Assist with social skills development and promote engagement in classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure personalised support.
  • Adapt learning materials to meet students’ unique needs.
  • Provide assistance with personal care and mobility needs when required.

Requirements for the SEN Learning Support Role:

  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance.
  • Prior experience supporting children with SEN in a school or similar setting as a SEN Learning Support.
  • A degree in Psychology, Counselling, Education, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students.
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability in working with diverse learning needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to a nurturing environment.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
