Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Scunthorpe
Pay Rate: £88.94 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start: Easter 2025 start
Contract: Daily Supply with Opportunities for Long-Term Work

GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to support students in primary schools across Scunthorpe. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about helping children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) thrive in an inclusive learning environment. Initially a daily supply role, there are excellent opportunities for long-term placements for the right candidate.

About the Role:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will play a crucial role in supporting students with Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language Difficulties, SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs), and other learning challenges. You will work closely with class teachers and SEN staff to ensure individual learning needs are met, helping students to develop both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN.
  • Assist in the delivery of tailored learning plans to meet individual student needs.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies.
  • Foster an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Encourage students to build their confidence, independence, and social skills.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists to implement effective interventions.
  • Support students with daily routines, sensory needs, and personal care (if required).

Requirements for the role:

  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar supporting role (preferred).
  • Understanding of Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language Needs, and other learning difficulties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students.
  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles and classroom environments.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting SEN students.
  • Training in SEND, behaviour management, or safeguarding (desirable but not essential).
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
