Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are excited to invite applications for the SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) role in schools in Southampton. This role involves supporting students with a range of learning difficulties, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and Speech and Language needs.
About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will be crucial in supporting students with Special Educational Needs. As a valued member of the school community, you will provide tailored assistance, ensuring students receive the guidance they need to excel academically and socially.
SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Responsibilities:
- Support students with SEN needs in their learning and personal development.
- Assist the class teacher in implementing individualised learning plans (ILPs).
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to help students achieve their full potential.
- Foster a structured and nurturing learning environment tailored to student needs.
- Encourage positive behaviour management and social engagement.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to adapt learning strategies.
- Support students with daily routines, emotional regulation, and communication skills.
SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Job Requirements:
- Experience working with children with SEN, ideally in a school or specialist setting.
- A strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning difficulties.
- Patience, resilience, and a caring nature to support students’ unique learning journeys.
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with staff, students, and parents.
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to suit individual learning needs.
- A Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
