Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time
GSL Education are seeking a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) in an SEN school located in Basingstoke. This role is integral to providing tailored support to students with Special Educational Needs, helping them flourish academically and socially. Your efforts will contribute significantly to fostering an inclusive educational environment where every student feels valued and empowered.
About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will be essential for aiding students with Special Educational Needs. This role will see you working closely with students with Autism (ASC), Speech and Language difficulties, and SEMH, helping them achieve their full potential in a safe and structured environment.
SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and small-group learning support tailored to student needs.
- Assist in creating and implementing individual education plans (IEPs).
- Support students with communication, sensory regulation, and social interaction.
- Help manage classroom behaviour using positive reinforcement techniques.
- Work closely with specialist therapists and SENCOs to adapt learning approaches.
- Ensure students have a safe and structured learning environment.
- Support students in developing self-confidence and independence.
SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Job Requirements:
- Previous experience in an SEN or mainstream educational setting (desirable).
- Relevant TA qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Understanding of various Special Educational Needs conditions, including autism and ADHD etc.
- Patience, adaptability and a genuine commitment to supporting students' growth.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
