Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with special educational needs in Hook. This is an exceptional opportunity to provide tailored support, helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and develop confidence in a nurturing environment.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will play a crucial role in delivering specialist support to students with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, speech and language difficulties and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges.

SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic and behavioural support to students with SEN.
  • Assist in the delivery of engaging and interactive learning activities.
  • Help students with daily routines and structured interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and SEN professionals.
  • Support students in developing social, emotional, and communication skills.
  • Ensure a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment.
  • Promote independence, confidence and a love for learning among students.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teaching staff and parents where appropriate.

Requirements: To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role.
  • A relevant qualification in Education, SEN, or Child Development (desirable but not essential).
  • A strong understanding of SEN strategies, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication difficulties.
  • Patience, empathy and resilience, with the ability to adapt to the needs of each student.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise effectively with staff, students and parents.
  • A proactive and positive approach, with the ability to use creative methods to engage pupils.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
