Job title: SEN Teacher
Location: Blandford
Salary: £31,650 - £49,084 per annum (MPS/UPS) (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate/ September 2025
Contract: Full-time/Permanent

GSL Education are recruiting for a committed SEN Teacher to join a specialist school in Blandford, providing tailored education for students with diverse learning needs.

About The Role:

As an SEN Teacher, you will play a crucial role in delivering differentiated and engaging lessons that support students with Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language difficulties, and Moderate to Severe Learning Disabilities. The school fosters a nurturing and structured learning environment, where every student is encouraged to develop their confidence and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver adaptive lessons that cater to the individual needs of students with SEN.
  • Use multi-sensory and creative teaching strategies to engage students effectively.
  • Foster a supportive and structured classroom environment, promoting emotional and academic development.
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement individual learning plans (EHCPs).
  • Employ alternative communication methods, such as Makaton, PECS, or assistive technology, to support students with speech and language difficulties.
  • Track progress and adjust teaching methods to maximise student learning outcomes.
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies, ensuring a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Maintain strong relationships with parents, carers, and multidisciplinary teams, providing regular updates on student progress.
  • Uphold safeguarding procedures, ensuring the well-being of all students.

Requirements of the SEN Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Previous experience teaching students with SEN in either a specialist or mainstream setting.
  • A strong understanding of SEND frameworks, EHCPs, and individualised education plans.
  • Proficiency in using assistive technology and specialised teaching approaches.
  • Excellent classroom management and behaviour support skills.
  • A passion for inclusive education and the ability to inspire confidence in students.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, working effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Additional training in SEN approaches (such as TEACCH, Makaton, PECS) is desirable.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
