GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to join a specialist provision in Poole. This role offers an exciting chance to make a real difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
About The Role:
As an SEN Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment for pupils with diverse learning needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language Difficulties, and Moderate to Severe Learning Disabilities. You will be responsible for delivering tailored lessons, implementing individual learning plans, and fostering a nurturing and structured classroom environment.
Responsibilities of SEN Teacher:
- Plan, deliver and adapt lessons to meet the individual needs of students with SEN.
- Use differentiated teaching strategies to support a range of learning needs and abilities.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel safe, valued, and supported.
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs and other professionals to implement personalised learning plans.
- Utilise alternative communication methods where appropriate, such as PECS, Makaton, or assistive technology.
- Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting teaching methods accordingly.
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
- Collaborate with parents, carers, and external agencies to provide holistic support for each student.
- Ensure the safeguarding and well-being of all pupils at all times.
The successful candidate will:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience teaching students with SEN in a specialist or mainstream setting.
- A solid understanding of SEND strategies, EHCPs, and individualised learning approaches.
- Strong classroom management skills with a positive, patient, and empathetic approach.
- Experience with differentiated instruction, sensory learning techniques, and assistive technologies is desirable.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, staff, and families.
- A passion for inclusive education and supporting children with complex needs.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
