Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on Experience)

Are you a compassionate and experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a fulfilling role in Romsey?

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and skilled Teaching Assistant (TA) to support a welcoming school in Romsey, Hampshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with students across a variety of age groups on a flexible day-to-day or long-term basis. Full-time and part-time positions are available.

In this role, you will work alongside the class teacher to create a positive learning environment, helping students to overcome any challenges they may face. You will provide one-to-one support, assist with small group work, and offer general classroom assistance.

Responsibilities of a TA:

  • Support students on a one-to-one or small group basis to help them reach their learning potential.
  • Assist the teacher in delivering engaging lessons and supporting classroom activities.
  • Encourage a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom atmosphere for all students.
  • Adapt your approach to meet the varying needs of students, particularly those with SEN or additional learning needs.
  • Help with behaviour management, ensuring students follow school rules and remain engaged.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers to help tailor support.
  • Assist in the preparation and organisation of learning materials and classroom resources.
  • Support students in their emotional and social development, fostering confidence and self-esteem.

Qualification of a Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role within an educational setting.
  • A degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • A patient, nurturing, and proactive approach to supporting students’ learning and development.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and contribute positively to the school environment.
  • An Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service, or the willingness to apply for one.
