Job Title: English Teacher
Location: Chesterfield (S40 1LP)
Salary: £150 - £200 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time
Working Hours: Monday to Friday (08:30 - 16:30)

If so, we invite you to join GSL Education as an English Teacher to join an established SEN school in Chesterfield. This role is open to experienced teachers, offering a fantastic opportunity to develop your teaching practice in a supportive school environment.

About the Role

As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering dynamic and thought-provoking lessons that develop students’ literacy skills, creativity and appreciation of literature. You will be expected to differentiate your teaching to meet the needs of all learners, ensuring every student can achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities of the English Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver structured, engaging English lessons tailored to the individual needs of students.
  • Modify the English curriculum to make it accessible for SEN students while ensuring the academic needs are met.
  • Provide individual support to students who require additional help with their learning, ensuring they make progress.
  • Track student progress through assessments, provide feedback, and set targets for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and other teachers to ensure that all students’ needs are addressed effectively.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages students’ engagement and confidence in learning.

Requirements of the English Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • A relevant degree in English or a related field (essential).
  • Strong ability to deliver engaging and effective lessons.
  • A valid UK driving licence and the ability to commute to school.
  • Knowledge of the UK English curriculum and the flexibility to adapt teaching methods for students with SEN.
  • Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the school community.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
