SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Cosham
Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long Term, Full-Time/Part-Time

GSL Education are seeking motivated and caring SEN Teaching Assistants to join schools in Cosham.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, providing tailored assistance both inside and outside the classroom. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to create a positive, inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive.

Special Needs TA Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with special educational needs on a one-to-one or small group basis.
  • Support the delivery of lessons and adapt learning materials to suit individual needs.
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and provide personalised support.
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Foster students’ social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the teacher and SENCo.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility when necessary.

Skills & Qualification of an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):

  • CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance.
  • A degree in Psychology, counselling, education or a similar field.
  • Prior experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A caring and patient attitude, with the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or a willingness to apply for one.
