SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Havant
Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long Term, Full-Time/Part-Time

GSL Education are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join schools in Havant. This role offers flexibility to suit your needs, whether you are looking for day-to-day, long-term, full-time, or part-time opportunities.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will play a key role in providing tailored support to students with diverse learning needs, both academically and emotionally. Working closely with classroom teachers and support staff, you will help create an inclusive environment that fosters students’ progress and well-being.

Your Responsibilities as an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Support students with special educational needs on a one-to-one or small group basis.
  • Assist in delivering lessons and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Foster a safe and supportive environment to promote students' emotional and social development.
  • Collaborate with teachers to adapt learning materials and strategies to meet individual needs.
  • Monitor and record student progress, reporting any concerns to the class teacher or SENCo.
  • Help manage behaviour positively and maintain a productive classroom atmosphere.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility when required.

Special Needs TA Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) or in a similar role.
  • CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A degree in Psychology, counselling, education or a similar field.
  • A caring and compassionate attitude, with the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Strong understanding of special educational needs and how to support them effectively.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
