SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Fareham
Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long Term, Full-Time/Part-Time

As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will play a crucial role in supporting students with additional needs, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with the teaching team to create a positive and inclusive learning environment, offering both academic and emotional support to students who need it most.

Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with special educational needs.
  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and adapting lessons to meet student needs.
  • Support students' emotional and social development by fostering a safe and encouraging environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure effective delivery of learning activities.
  • Monitor student progress and report on achievements and areas for improvement.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility needs where required.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation as necessary.

SEN TA Qualification:

  • A degree in Psychology, counselling, education or a similar field.
  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or similar role.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with students with additional needs.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
