Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £86 - £100 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediately
Contract Type: Day-to-day/ Long Term, Full-Time / Part-Time

If so, GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join schools in Sheffield.
As a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant (Secondary SEN TA), you will play a crucial role in providing personalised support to students, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. Whether you are an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant or looking to gain experience in this field, we welcome your application.
Responsibilities of a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Support the learning and development of students with SEN in a secondary school setting.
- Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering adapted lessons to meet individual needs.
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with additional needs.
- Encourage positive behaviour and social interaction among students.
- Monitor and record student progress, reporting any concerns to the SENCO or class teacher.
- Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment that supports students’ emotional and academic growth.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to support individual learning plans.
- Assist with personal care or mobility support where necessary.
Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Requirements:
- CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance is desirable.
- A degree in Psychology, Counselling, Education or a similar field.
- Previous experience working with secondary-aged students with SEN as a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant is desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, empathetic, and positive approach to working with young people.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
