SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire
Start Date: Easter 2025
Salary: £83.33 - £95.00 per day
Contract Type: Full-time

Are you passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Are you looking for a role that offers flexibility while allowing you to make a real difference? GSL Education is currently seeking a full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant to work within primary and secondary settings in Scunthorpe.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting children and young adults with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Collaborating with teachers, family members, and school leaders to develop and implement individualised learning and support plans.
  • Managing challenging behaviour within the classroom, using effective de-escalation techniques.
  • Assisting with the use of specialist equipment and resources to support students' learning and development.

Role Requirements:

  • A qualification in Health and Social Care, or a relevant field (Level 3 Diploma or equivalent).
  • Experience working with children or young adults with SEMH needs, preferably in an educational or care setting.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and build rapport with students.
  • Compassionate, caring, and committed to helping young people overcome their challenges.
  • A DBS registered to the update service, or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.

Please be aware that this role requires a solid understanding of safeguarding and child protection. Successful applicants will need to pass all required background checks, including an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or the willingness to apply for a new one.
