Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA)
Location: Barton
Salary: £83.33 - £95.00 per day (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Full-time

Are you a compassionate and resilient individual with a passion for supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? This is an exciting opportunity to work in a supportive school environment in Barton, helping young learners build confidence and achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities of the SEMH TA:

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, helping them navigate challenges.
  • Assist with classroom activities and create a positive learning environment.
  • Support pupils in managing emotions, behaviour, and social interactions.
  • Work one-to-one or with small groups, ensuring they receive the right level of care and encouragement.
  • Implement individual learning plans and strategies to meet diverse needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to promote student success.
  • Foster resilience and independence in students by providing consistent guidance and mentorship.

Requirements of the SEMH TA:

  • Previous experience working with SEMH, or SEN students is highly desirable.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to working with young people.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to provide a structured and supportive environment.
  • A passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a dedicated team.
  • A relevant qualification in education, psychology, or youth work (desirable but not essential).
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
