SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Wrawby, North Lincolnshire
Salary: £83.33 - £95.00 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: ASAP

Are you dedicated to supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs?
GSL Education are seeking an experienced and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join schools in Wrawby, North Lincolnshire.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA), you will be providing essential support to students with SEMH challenges, helping them engage in learning and develop strategies to manage their emotions and behaviours. This role is ideal for those with experience in SEMH settings or similar environments and is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the success of young learners.
What you have to do as an SEMH TA:
- Offer one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Tailor learning activities and strategies to meet individual student needs.
- Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment.
- Support students in developing social, emotional, and behavioural skills.
- Work closely with teachers and school staff to ensure students’ progress.
- Implement behaviour management strategies to de-escalate situations.
- Encourage student participation and engagement in all classroom activities.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and feedback.
- Collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals to support student development.
- Follow school policies, especially related to safeguarding and behaviour management.
What we need from an SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience working with SEMH or challenging behaviour as an SEMH Teaching Assistant is highly desirable.
- Any degree in Psychology, counselling, education or a similar field.
- Qualifications such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance, or similar are advantageous.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviours with patience and resilience.
- A real passion for supporting students in overcoming barriers to learning.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
