Location: Blandford Forum
Salary: £76.92 - £95.68 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time/Permanent

GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and committed SEN Support Worker to join schools in Blandford Forum.

About the role:

As an SEN Support Worker, you will work closely with students who have diverse needs, offering tailored support both on a one-to-one basis and in small groups. You will play a vital role in promoting students’ emotional well-being and encouraging their academic progress.

SEN Support Worker Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and group support to students with special educational needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
  • Support the social and emotional development of students through positive interactions.
  • Assist in classroom activities, helping students to engage with the curriculum.
  • Manage challenging behaviours with a calm and consistent approach.
  • Monitor and track student progress and report to teachers and the SENCO.
  • Help create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students in developing social and communication skills.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals.
  • Promote student independence and build their confidence in daily activities.

What we need from a SEN Support Worker:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs as a SEN Support Worker.
  • A degree in Psychology, counselling, education or a similar field.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare, or equivalent is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient attitude to managing challenging behaviour.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
  • Possess an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
