Salary: £76.92 - £95.68 per day (Depending on Experience)

GSL Education are seeking a committed Autism Support Worker to join schools in Poole.

As an Autism Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students with autism, helping them develop social skills, emotional regulation, and confidence in their learning environment. This rewarding role will give you the chance to positively impact the lives of young individuals while working alongside a supportive and collaborative team.

Responsibilities of an Autism Support Worker:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
  • Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Encourage students to develop their communication and social interaction skills.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to ensure consistency in student support.
  • Monitor and record student progress and report any concerns to senior staff.
  • Help manage challenging behaviours in a calm and professional manner.
  • Facilitate sensory and communication activities to promote engagement and participation.
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff, and families to support holistic development.
  • Support students in their personal care and independence skills when required.

Skills & Requirements for an Autism Support Worker:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) or related needs as an Autism Support Worker.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare, or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting individuals with additional needs.
  • Knowledge of autism-friendly strategies and interventions.
