Salary: £76.92 - £95.68 per day (Depending on Experience)

GSL Education are seeking a committed and compassionate Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join schools in Bournemouth.

As a SEN TA, you will play a vital role in providing tailored support to students with diverse needs, including learning difficulties and behavioural challenges. You will work closely with the class teacher and the SENDCo to implement individualised support plans, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities for a Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with special educational needs, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored lessons and adapting resources to meet individual needs.
  • Support students in developing their social, emotional, and academic skills.
  • Monitor and record students’ progress and report observations to the teaching team.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to promote positive interactions and engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to create a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Foster independence and confidence in students through structured support and encouragement.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility support if required.
  • Promote a positive, nurturing, and respectful atmosphere within the classroom.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to the assessment and evaluation of student progress.

SEN TA Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs or challenging behaviour as a Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant.
  • A degree in Psychology, counselling, education or a similar field.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance, or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Resilient, patient, and calm under pressure.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
  • Possess an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
