About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and those who display challenging behaviour. Your responsibilities will include:
✔ Providing tailored support to students with SEN, including Autism, ADHD, and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
✔ Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour using positive reinforcement strategies.
✔ Assisting teachers in delivering engaging lessons that cater to different learning styles.
✔ Working one-on-one or in small groups to help students develop confidence, social skills, and academic progress.
✔ Encouraging independence while providing emotional and behavioural support.
✔ Liaising with SENCOs, teachers, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.
Who We're Looking For
We welcome applicants from school settings as well as individuals with transferable skills from Care, Youth Work, Community Support, or similar sectors. Ideal candidates will have:
✔ Experience working with SEN students or young people with additional needs.
✔ Confidence in managing and supporting challenging behaviour.
✔ A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting young learners.
✔ Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
