English Teacher
Location: Basingstoke, Hampshire
Salary: £30,000 to £50,000 per annum (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Easter 2025 / September 2025
Contract Type: Permanent/Long Term, Full-time/Part-time (permanent contract will be offered to the right candidate upon successful completion of the probation period)

GSL Education are looking for a dedicated English Teacher to join a secondary school in Basingstoke, Hampshire. This role presents a fantastic opportunity for both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) looking to further develop their teaching careers and make a meaningful impact in the classroom.
About the role:
As a Teacher of English, you will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons to secondary school students, nurturing a love for literature and language, and helping students meet their potential through a variety of teaching strategies.
English Teacher Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and high-quality lessons in English, ensuring that students achieve their full potential.
- Plan and prepare lessons that cater to different learning styles and abilities.
- Use a variety of assessment tools to monitor and track student progress.
- Provide constructive feedback to students and support their academic growth.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively to create a positive and productive learning environment.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure a cohesive curriculum and the holistic development of students.
- Foster an inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
- Stay up-to-date with curriculum changes and educational trends to continually improve teaching practices.
Teacher of English Skills & Qualification:
- A degree in English, Education, or a related field.
- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or a similar teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching English at the secondary level, although ECTs are welcome to apply.
- A passion for teaching and inspiring young people.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively and ensure a positive learning environment.
- A commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to apply for one.
