Cover Supervisor
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Salary: £95 to £130 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day to day / Long Term, Full Time / Part Time
Working Hours: Flexible (3-5 days a week)

Do you have the ability to manage a classroom and support students in their learning journey?

If so, GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor (CS) to join schools in Southampton. This flexible role is ideal for aspiring teachers or current students who want to build valuable classroom experience.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising whole classes during short-term teacher absences, delivering pre-set lesson plans, and ensuring that students remain engaged and focused.

What you have to do as a Cover Supervisor:

  • Supervise whole classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students remain engaged in their learning.
  • Deliver pre-set lesson plans and maintain the continuity of education during teacher absences.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, promoting a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Support students with their learning, responding to questions and providing guidance as needed.
  • Follow the school's policies and procedures, including safeguarding and behaviour management guidelines.
  • Report any concerns or incidents to senior leadership promptly and accurately.
  • Support students with additional needs or learning difficulties when required.
  • Collect and record work completed by students during the lesson.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to lesson delivery, such as preparing resources and materials.
  • Liaise with teaching staff and school leadership regarding student progress and any issues that arise.

Cover Supervisor (CS) Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young people, preferably in an educational setting as a Cover Supervisor (CS) or similar.
  • Degree or ongoing studies in Psychology, Health & Social Care, Education, or a related field are desirable.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Confidence in managing classroom behaviour.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work in different school environments.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to apply for one.
