Cover Supervisor
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Salary: £95 to £130 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day to day / Long Term, Full Time / Part Time
Working Hours: Flexible (3-5 days a week)
Do you have the ability to manage a classroom and support students in their learning journey?
If so, GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor (CS) to join schools in Southampton. This flexible role is ideal for aspiring teachers or current students who want to build valuable classroom experience.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising whole classes during short-term teacher absences, delivering pre-set lesson plans, and ensuring that students remain engaged and focused.
What you have to do as a Cover Supervisor:
- Supervise whole classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students remain engaged in their learning.
- Deliver pre-set lesson plans and maintain the continuity of education during teacher absences.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively, promoting a positive and productive learning environment.
- Support students with their learning, responding to questions and providing guidance as needed.
- Follow the school's policies and procedures, including safeguarding and behaviour management guidelines.
- Report any concerns or incidents to senior leadership promptly and accurately.
- Support students with additional needs or learning difficulties when required.
- Collect and record work completed by students during the lesson.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to lesson delivery, such as preparing resources and materials.
- Liaise with teaching staff and school leadership regarding student progress and any issues that arise.
Cover Supervisor (CS) Requirements:
- Previous experience working with young people, preferably in an educational setting as a Cover Supervisor (CS) or similar.
- Degree or ongoing studies in Psychology, Health & Social Care, Education, or a related field are desirable.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Confidence in managing classroom behaviour.
- Adaptability and flexibility to work in different school environments.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to apply for one.
