Salary: £12.83 per hour
Start Date: Immediate / Easter 2025 start
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent (Part-time available for the right candidate)

About the Role:

As an Academic SEN Support, you will be working closely with children with various special educational needs to ensure they can fully engage with the curriculum and achieve their academic potential. This role will involve supporting students with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and other SEN needs, helping them to build confidence, improve their learning outcomes, and develop essential skills for the future.

Academic SEN Support Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic support to students with SEN, helping them to access the curriculum effectively.
  • Assist in differentiating learning materials to suit the needs of individual students.
  • Support behaviour management and the emotional well-being of students to ensure a positive learning environment.
  • Work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to monitor and implement individualised learning plans.
  • Help students build independence and develop essential skills such as problem-solving, communication, and social interaction.
  • Encourage students to engage with learning and promote self-confidence in their academic abilities.
  • Provide feedback to teachers on student progress and contribute to discussions around learning strategies.

Academic SEN Support Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience in supporting SEN students is essential.
  • A genuine passion for helping children with special educational needs and creating a supportive learning environment.
  • University students are encouraged to apply, particularly those interested in gaining valuable classroom experience.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to the diverse needs of students.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
