Job Title: SEN Learning Support Mentor
Location: Wimborne, Dorset
Salary: £12.83 per hour
Start Date: Immediate / Easter 2025 start
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent (Part-time available for the right candidate)

Role Overview:

As a SEN Learning Support Mentor, you will be supporting students with Special Educational Needs across the primary school setting. You will work closely with teachers and other professionals to ensure that individual learning plans are effectively implemented, enabling students to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities of SEN Learning Support Mentor:

  • Provide one-on-one and small-group support for students with SEN.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of individualised learning plans to support students’ needs.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour, promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists to ensure the implementation of strategies that support students' needs.
  • Encourage students to develop independence and social skills, promoting self-confidence and resilience.
  • Assist in supporting students’ emotional well-being, ensuring they feel safe, supported, and valued.
  • Support group activities, ensuring all students can participate and engage meaningfully.

Requirements of SEN Learning Support Mentor:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEN is highly desirable, especially in a primary school setting.
  • A passion for working with children and helping them achieve their potential.
  • University students are encouraged to apply, particularly those looking for valuable classroom experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals.
  • Have an updated CV (with two relevant references from the last two years and covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
