Job Title: SEN Support for Primary
Location: Bournemouth, Dorset
Salary: £12.83 per hour
Start Date: Immediate/ Easter 2025 start
Contract: Full-time, permanent (part-time can also be arranged for the right candidate)

GSL Education are excited to offer an excellent opportunity for SEN Support at a mainstream primary school in Bournemouth, Dorset. This is a rewarding role for someone who has a desire to make a positive impact on the lives of students with SEN. The position is available to start immediately or in time for an Easter start and offers full-time hours, with flexible part-time options for the right candidate.
About the Role:
As a Primary SEN Support, you will provide essential support to pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia and SEMH. You will work closely with both teachers and external specialists to ensure that every student is fully supported in reaching their academic and personal potential.
Responsibilities of the Primary SEN Support:
- Provide one-on-one and small-group support to students with SEN needs.
- Work closely with class teachers and other school staff to ensure individual education plans (IEPs) are effectively implemented.
- Assist with the management of classroom behaviour and create a positive, inclusive learning environment.
- Support students with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social interaction.
- Encourage the development of key life skills, including communication and independence.
- Assist with exam preparation and classroom activities, ensuring all students are engaged and supported.
Requirements of the Primary SEN Support: To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A strong desire to support young people with behavioural challenges in education.
- Prior experience working in an educational, care, or support setting with children with SEMH, SEN, behavioural challenges, or additional learning needs will be an advantage.
- Excellent communication, patience, and problem-solving skills.
- Profound knowledge of SEN terms and strategies of SEN including Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, SEMH, trauma and disabilities.
- A proactive and empathetic approach to working with students of diverse backgrounds and needs.
- Ability to adapt behaviour support strategies to individual student needs.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
