Food Technology Teacher
Location: School is based in Langham Colchester
Salary: £130 - £290 per day (based on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Are you a creative Food Technology Teacher with a passion for nurturing practical skills, promoting healthy living, and building students' confidence? A supportive, therapeutic school in Colchester is seeking a dedicated Food Technology Teacher to empower students — particularly those with SEMH needs — to explore food and nutrition.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, practical lessons covering food preparation, nutrition, food science, and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Equip students with cooking and food preparation skills, encouraging creativity and confidence.
- Support students' social and emotional growth through hands-on learning.
- Teach food hygiene, safety, and sustainability, ensuring a safe environment.
- Foster a structured, empowering learning atmosphere where all students feel capable.
- Monitor student progress, providing personalized support and feedback.
- Collaborate with colleagues to promote healthy living and life skills.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching Food Technology or a similar practical subject, ideally with SEMH or SEN students.
- A passion for cooking, nutrition, and inspiring young people.
- Strong classroom management, patience, and empathy.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
