Learning Support Assistant
Location: School is based in Langham Colchester
Salary: £83.33 - £120 per day
Start Date: ASAP
A nurturing, inclusive school in Colchester, specializing in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis.
Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support, helping students engage with learning activities and achieve their personal and academic targets.
- Assist teachers in creating an inclusive, therapeutic, and supportive classroom environment.
- Support students with emotional regulation, social development, and behavior management, promoting self-esteem and resilience.
- Implement strategies to support a wide range of learning, emotional, and behavioral needs.
- Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and collaborate with staff to ensure each child’s development is nurtured.
- Help maintain a calm, structured, and positive atmosphere that fosters academic progress and emotional well-being.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar support role is desirable, especially with SEMH or SEN students.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with children who may exhibit challenging behaviors.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
- A passion for making a positive, lasting difference in children’s lives.
