Job Title: Behaviour Support for Primary (SEN)
Location: Portsmouth, Hampshire
Salary: £12.83 per hour
Start Date: Immediate/ Easter 2025 start
Contract: Full-time, permanent (part-time can also be arranged for the right candidate)

GSL Education are inviting dedicated individuals to take on the rewarding role of Behaviour Support in a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Portsmouth. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support, ensuring they feel valued and encouraged in their learning journey.
About the Role:
As a Behaviour Support, you will provide essential one-to-one and small-group support to primary-aged pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs. Your role will involve fostering positive relationships, implementing tailored interventions, and supporting students in overcoming challenges that may impact their learning.
Responsibilities of the Behaviour Support for Primary (SEN):
- Provide dedicated support to children with behavioural and SEN needs, ensuring they feel safe and engaged in the classroom.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individual behaviour management strategies.
- Encourage positive behaviour and emotional resilience through structured activities and guidance.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to create an inclusive and nurturing environment.
- Offer support during lessons, break times, and structured interventions.
- Help students develop self-confidence, coping mechanisms, and social skills.
- Monitor and report on pupil progress, ensuring tailored support is continuously adapted.
Requirements of the Behaviour Support for Primary (SEN): To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A strong desire to support young people with behavioural challenges in education.
- Prior experience working in an educational, care, or support setting with children with SEMH, SEN, behavioural challenges, or additional learning needs will be an advantage.
- Excellent communication, patience, and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive and empathetic approach to working with students of diverse backgrounds and needs.
- Ability to adapt behaviour support strategies to individual student needs.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
