Job Title: Secondary Learning Support Mentor
Location: Fareham, Hampshire
Salary: £12.83 per hour
Start Date: Immediate/ Easter 2025
Contract: Full-time, permanent (part-time can also be arranged for the right candidate)

About the Role:

As a Secondary Learning Support Mentor, you will work closely with students who require additional academic or emotional support, ensuring they remain engaged and motivated in their learning. Your role will involve providing one-to-one and small group interventions, working alongside teachers to support lesson delivery, and helping students overcome any barriers to their education.

Responsibilities of the Secondary Learning Support Mentor:

  • Providing tailored one-to-one and small group support to students who require extra guidance.
  • Assisting in lesson delivery by working collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
  • Supporting students with learning difficulties, special educational needs (SEN), or behavioural challenges.
  • Encouraging students to develop confidence, independence, and a positive approach to learning.
  • Helping to create a nurturing and inclusive school environment.
  • Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers, parents, and school staff.
  • Assisting with classroom management and promoting positive behaviour.
  • Providing mentoring and pastoral support, particularly for students struggling with engagement or motivation.

Requirements of the Secondary Learning Support Mentor: To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A genuine passion for education and supporting young people.
  • Previous experience in mentoring, tutoring, or educational support is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students and encourage their growth.
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to learning support.
  • University students interested in education careers are encouraged to apply.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
