SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire
Salary Scale: £83.34 – £96 per day
Start Date: Immediately
GSL Education are actively looking for candidates aspiring to support young pupils having additional needs with immediate availability in Hull. Ideally, we require the suitable candidate be equipped to provide the best opportunities within a specialised provision, supporting independent learning, development, and exploration as an SEN Teaching Assistant.
The potential candidate is to work closely with a team of professionals to provide tailored and specific support for young people who have additional requirements in either academic or communicative development. A large part of this role is relationship and stability building for the young person. For this position, the selected candidate will be working on a 1:1 basis out in the community or the primary school sites.
Job Requirements:
- To develop and promote the primary client school’s curriculum and environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional development.
- Monitor student progress, ensuring outcomes align with their EHCP goals.
- Take responsibility for students’ development by encouraging active participation in all educational activities.
- Possess a child workforce, enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assisting young people with Autism, Speech, and Language Communication Needs, with experience in using PECs and Makaton.
- Skilled in behaviour management, outdoor learning, Lego therapy, and Compass Buzz strategies.
- Previous experience in 1:1 support, personal care, or as a Teaching Assistant.
- Contributing to the delivery of high-quality education for all students.
- Collaborating with staff to recognise each student's strengths and needs, helping them achieve their full potential.
- Supporting young people through 1:1 and small group activities, using play-based learning under the guidance of the class teacher.
- Offering encouragement and assistance to students while maintaining effective communication with children, parents, carers, and colleagues.
