Job Title: Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Hook
Salary Range: £13.68 - £14.88 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start time: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work in a primary or secondary school setting in Hook. This role is perfect for individuals who are committed to nurturing and encouraging students while assisting teachers in delivering high-quality education.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant (TA), you will play a crucial role in supporting students’ learning and development. You will work alongside teachers to deliver engaging lessons, assist with classroom management, and provide one-to-one or small-group support to students who need additional guidance.

Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Provide tailored support to students, either individually or in small groups, to help them overcome learning challenges.
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging and effective lessons.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and SENCOs.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour, ensuring a structured and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students with special educational needs (SEN), including Autism, ADHD, and Dyslexia.
  • Assist in the development of individual education plans (IEPs) to address students’ specific needs.
  • Encourage positive learning attitudes, boosting students' self-confidence and engagement.
  • Prepare learning materials and resources to enhance lesson delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to provide comprehensive support.
  • Ensure a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment for all students.

Requirements of the Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role.
  • Knowledge of the curriculum and effective teaching support strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Patience, empathy and an understanding of how to support children’s individual needs.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate) is desirable but not essential.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
