A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Hull is searching for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with additional learning requirements. This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to make a lasting impact on a child’s life and educational journey.

Your Role: What You’ll Be Doing

  • One-to-one support – Be a trusted mentor, working closely with a pupil to help them overcome learning barriers and reach their full potential.
  • Collaborate and adapt – Work hand-in-hand with the SENCO, teachers, and parents to develop personalised learning strategies tailored to the student’s needs.
  • Create a supportive environment – Foster an inclusive and welcoming space where the child feels valued, confident, and engaged in their learning.
  • Monitor progress – Observe and assess the pupil’s development, providing feedback to teachers and adjusting support techniques where necessary.
  • Encourage independence – Help the student develop key skills that enable them to gain confidence and self-sufficiency in their learning journey.
  • Keep detailed records – Track progress, noting achievements and challenges, and communicate this with relevant stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children with additional needs.
  • A compassionate and patient nature – someone who truly cares about making a difference.
  • Strong communication skills – ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • A proactive mindset – someone who can adapt and tailor their approach to suit the child’s unique learning needs.
  • Additional qualifications or training in special education or behaviour management are desirable but not essential.

This role requires a solid understanding of safeguarding and child protection. Successful applicants must pass all necessary background checks, including an Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the update service or a new application for a DBS check.
