Job Title: Complex Needs Support Worker
Location: Lincoln
Salary: £83.33 - £90.00 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-Time

Do you have experience working as a Complex Needs Support Worker and are ready to support children in a caring, inclusive setting in Lincoln?

GSL Education are looking for a Complex Needs Support Worker in Lincoln to provide specialist support to children and young people with complex learning needs, disabilities and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties.

This role is ideally suited to individuals from healthcare, social care, or support work backgrounds, including care assistants, mental health support workers, youth workers and those with experience in SEN or residential care settings.

About the Role:

As a Complex Needs Support Worker, you will be working in SEN schools, alternative provisions, or mainstream settings supporting children and young people with significant learning challenges, physical disabilities, communication needs and behavioural difficulties.

Essential Qualities That We Are Looking For:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with complex SEN and SEMH needs.
  • Assist in delivering personalised learning plans, supporting students with communication, behavioural and sensory needs.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies to promote positive engagement.
  • Provide personal care and physical assistance where necessary, ensuring students' comfort and dignity.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals, contributing to multidisciplinary support approaches.
  • Support students with sensory regulation, emotional resilience and social interaction.
  • Encourage students to develop their independence, confidence and essential life skills.
  • Monitor student progress, providing feedback to staff and carers to ensure continuous support and development.
  • Uphold safeguarding policies and promote a safe, nurturing learning environment.

To be considered for this role, you must have::

  • Experience in healthcare, social care, or support work (e.g., care assistant, mental health support worker, youth worker, SEN support).
  • Understanding of complex special educational needs (SEN), including Autism, ADHD, learning disabilities and SEMH challenges.
  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach, with strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Willingness to assist with personal care and mobility support if required.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with teachers, therapists and SEN professionals.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with complex needs and helping them achieve their full potential.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
