Job Title: Learning Support Mentor
Location: Bournemouth, Dorset
Salary: 12.82 - £12.83 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Easter 2025
Contract: Full-time, permanent (part-time can also be arranged for the right candidate)

About the Role:
As a Learning Support Mentor, you will play a vital role in providing tailored support to students who require additional assistance in their learning journey. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators) and pastoral teams to ensure that all students receive the guidance they need to reach their full potential.
Responsibilities of the Learning Support Mentor:
- Assist in delivering engaging lessons and supporting students in their learning and development.
- Provide one-to-one or small group support for students who may need extra help in literacy, numeracy, or social skills.
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment, ensuring that all pupils feel valued and confident.
- Support students in managing emotions and behaviour, encouraging positive interactions and resilience.
- Help to implement individual learning plans (ILPs) and work closely with teachers and SEN staff to tailor learning approaches.
- Offer guidance and encouragement to help students develop independence and confidence in their abilities.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents when necessary.
- Support the class teacher with lesson preparation, classroom activities, and administrative tasks as required.
- Promote a safe and inclusive school environment, adhering to safeguarding policies at all times.
Requirements of the Learning Support Mentor: To be considered for this role, you must have:
- University students studying education, psychology, or related fields are encouraged to apply, as this role offers valuable classroom experience.
- Experience working in education, youth work, mentoring, or a related field is desirable.
- A strong understanding of child development, behaviour management and pastoral care.
- The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and families.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to supporting students with varying needs.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
