Position: Early Years Practitioner
Location: Portsmouth, Hampshire
Compensation: £12.82 - £12.83 per hour (depending on experience)
Commencement: Easter 2025

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Early Years Practitioner (EYP) to join our vibrant early years setting in Portsmouth. This is your chance to make a lasting impact on children's lives and inspire them to reach their highest potential.
Role Overview
As an Early Years Practitioner (EYP) in Portsmouth, you will play a pivotal role in supporting children's learning and development. You will work closely with our team to provide one-on-one and group support, helping children overcome learning barriers and develop essential skills. Your role will also involve assisting in the preparation of lesson materials, supporting classroom activities, and providing feedback on children's progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborative Teaching: Work hand-in-hand with teachers to create personalised learning plans that cater to each child's unique needs. Regularly review and adjust these plans to ensure they remain effective and relevant.
- Focused Interventions: Provide individual and small group interventions to help children improve their learning outcomes. Utilise evidence-based strategies to support children in developing their academic and social skills.
- Promote Positive Learning: Teach and reinforce effective study techniques, helping children to understand and engage with their studies. Foster positive interactions and model appropriate behaviour.
- Classroom Assistance: Partner with classroom teachers to implement learning strategies that promote a positive and inclusive learning environment. Assist teachers in addressing learning challenges and fostering a culture of respect and cooperation.
- Track Progress: Keep detailed records of children’s progress and any interventions used. Provide regular updates to teachers, parents, and other relevant parties to ensure a coordinated approach to each child’s development.
- Engage with External Agencies: Ensure that children receive comprehensive support by collaborating with counsellors, social workers, and other professionals to address the broader needs of children and their families.
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience as an Early Years Practitioner or in a similar role.
- Prior experience in supporting children is essential.
- Demonstrate a deep commitment to helping children, exhibiting patience and empathy.
- Ability to establish and maintain strong, supportive relationships with all members of the school community.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Relevant qualifications or training in early years education are desirable.
