Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Location: Boston

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: FTE £25,183 per annum (£22,120.20 pro rata)

Days/Hours of work: 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

GSL Education Lincolnshire is seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for an Alternative Provision in a thriving and supportive secondary school. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting students who need an alternative approach to mainstream education.

About the Role:

As an HLTA for the Alternative Provision, you will play a key role in providing structured learning support to students who benefit from additional guidance outside the traditional classroom setting. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting teaching staff in delivering tailored learning interventions.
  • Planning and leading sessions under the supervision of the Alternative Provision Manager, SENCO, or qualified teachers.
  • Assisting in the development of school strategies that enhance student progress and well-being.
  • Occasionally covering whole classes when required, including for PPA time.
  • Encouraging students to become independent, engaged learners while supporting their personal development.

Who We’re Looking For:

We are eager to hear from candidates who:

  • Hold Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) status or have equivalent qualifications/experience.
  • Possess strong numeracy and literacy skills (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in English and Maths).
  • Have experience working with students who require additional support, including SEN and EAL students.
  • Understand classroom roles, responsibilities, and the principles of child development.
  • Have experience working in alternative provision, learning support, or a similar educational environment.
  • Can work well as part of a team and motivate others in a learning environment.
