Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant

Location: Bournemouth
Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are looking for a committed Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a supportive school in Bournemouth. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with students who require additional support, helping them thrive academically and personally in a nurturing learning environment.

As an SEN TA, you will play a key role in assisting students with their learning, ensuring they feel supported and encouraged every step of the way.

Responsibilities of SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN.
  • Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) to support student learning.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment.
  • Support students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
  • Assist with personal care and emotional well-being when required.

Special Needs TA Qualification:

  • Experience working with children with SEN as a Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant is highly desirable.
  • CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance, or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
  • Possess an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
