Salary: £90 - £100 per day (Depending on Experience)

About the Role:

As the 1:1 Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will work closely with a specific student requiring additional academic and emotional support, ensuring their learning experience is engaging, structured and accessible. You will provide personalised assistance, adapting teaching strategies to suit their individual needs and working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and support staff to deliver a consistent and tailored learning plan.

Responsibilities of a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant (LSA):

  • Provide individualised academic and emotional support to a student with additional needs.
  • Implement personalised learning strategies to enhance engagement and understanding.
  • Assist with classroom activities, differentiated learning tasks and structured interventions.
  • Support the student in developing social skills, independence and positive learning behaviours.
  • Adapt resources and teaching materials to ensure inclusivity and accessibility.
  • Monitor and assess the student's progress, providing feedback to teachers and SEN staff.
  • Foster a nurturing and supportive learning environment, promoting confidence and self-esteem.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Encourage the student’s participation in class discussions, group activities and wider school experiences.
  • Maintain safeguarding and wellbeing protocols, ensuring the student's safety and comfort at all times.

Job Requirements of the 1:1 Learning Support Assistant (LSA):

  • Previous experience as a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant or in a similar SEN support role.
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
  • A solid understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly in Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, or other learning difficulties.
  • The ability to tailor learning approaches, implement behaviour strategies and support emotional regulation.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students effectively.
  • A genuine passion for inclusive education and helping young learners reach their full potential.
  • Have an updated CV (with two relevant references from the last two years and covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
