GSL Education are pleased to invite applications for versatile and enthusiastic Secondary Supply Teachers to support secondary schools across Barnsley, delivering high-quality education in the absence of regular teaching staff. This role requires strong classroom management skills, adaptability and a proactive approach to engaging students effectively.

About The Role:

As a Supply Teacher, you will play a vital role in ensuring continuity of learning across a variety of subjects and key stages. You will be responsible for delivering pre-prepared lessons, maintaining classroom engagement and supporting students in achieving their learning objectives. You will need to follow lesson plans, ensure student participation and uphold school policies on behaviour and safeguarding.

Responsibilities of Supply Teacher:

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects, ensuring a productive and engaging learning experience.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, fostering a positive and respectful learning environment.
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of diverse learners, maintaining enthusiasm and engagement.
  • Ensure continuity of learning by following lesson plans and liaising with teaching staff regarding student progress.
  • Support students academically and pastorally, providing guidance where necessary.
  • Uphold school policies on safeguarding, behaviour and student welfare, ensuring a safe learning space.
  • Work flexibly across multiple schools, adapting quickly to new environments and teaching expectations.

The successful candidate will:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Early Career Teacher (ECT) status, or relevant teaching experience.
  • Proven experience teaching at the secondary level, preferably across multiple subjects.
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills.
  • The ability to adapt quickly to different learning environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students and staff.
  • A commitment to ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
