About the Role:
As a Mental Health Support Worker (SW) in Weymouth, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health needs, helping them overcome barriers and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with other support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive environment. This is an excellent chance to make a significant difference in a supportive and inclusive setting.

Key Responsibilities of Mental Health Support Worker (SW):

  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualised support plans for individuals with mental health needs.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to help individuals understand and manage their mental health.
  • Monitor and assess progress, providing feedback and adjusting support strategies as necessary.
  • Participate in meetings and discussions to share insights and strategies for supporting each individual's well-being.
  • Help foster a welcoming and supportive atmosphere where all individuals feel valued and included.
  • Employ different techniques and materials to cater to the diverse needs of individuals.
  • Keep detailed notes on each individual's development and communicate this information to relevant parties.

Requirements of Mental Health Support Worker (SW):

  • Experience working with individuals with mental health needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with individuals, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to establish trust and rapport with all members of the community.
  • Deep commitment to helping individuals with mental health needs, exhibiting patience and empathy in your interactions.
  • Additional qualifications or training in mental health support are advantageous but not mandatory.

To work with GSL Education as a Mental Health Support Worker, you will need:

  • The right to work in the UK.
  • An up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • An enhanced DBS registered to update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
