SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Basingstoke
Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long-Term, Full-Time / Part-Time

GSL Education are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support students in schools across Basingstoke. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide one-to-one and small-group support, helping students with additional needs thrive in their learning environment.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will work closely with teachers and SEN specialists to deliver tailored support, ensuring students feel encouraged and empowered in their education.

What you’ll do as a SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Assist students with special educational needs in both classroom and one-to-one settings.
  • Support the development and implementation of personalised learning plans.
  • Foster an inclusive and positive learning environment.
  • Help students develop confidence, independence, and communication skills.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the teaching team.

What we need from a SEN TA:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN as a SEN Teaching Assistant is beneficial.
  • CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance.
  • A degree in psychology, education, or something similar.
  • A patient, compassionate, and adaptable approach to working with students.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to apply for one.
