English Teacher - Southampton, Hampshire

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and inspiring English Teacher to join a secondary school in Southampton on a full-time basis. This role is a maternity cover starting from Easter 2025, with a competitive salary between £30,000 and £50,000 per year (depending on experience). A fixed-term contract will be offered following a successful probation period. This is an excellent opportunity for both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced educators looking to make a meaningful impact in a supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities of English Teacher:
- Plan and deliver engaging and creative English lessons in line with the national curriculum.
- Inspire students to develop their reading, writing, and analytical skills.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and targeted support.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance curriculum planning and school initiatives.
- Maintain high standards of teaching, behaviour management, and student motivation.
Requirements of English Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for teaching English.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students of all abilities.
- Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to create a structured and engaging learning environment.
- ECTs and experienced teachers encouraged to apply.
- Commitment to promoting literacy development and a love for English.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
